The role of CPTED in countering terrorism
A terrorist attack in a populated area in Australia is now officially considered likely. The use of terrorism as a protest tool is unfortunately now with us for the long-term. While the underlying causes may change the means available (weapons, explosives and chemicals) are increasingly more lethal. In this talk we will discuss the collaboration between the Designing Out Crime Research Unit and the Counter Terrorism Unit in the NSW Police Force to integrate preventive and protective measures into the design of infrastructure and public buildings. Does CPTED principles aid or conflict with countering terrorism?
